Overview
BuildUp Bookings is a digital marketing agency that works mainly with businesses in the vacation rental and property management space. Their services include SEO, paid advertising, social media, email marketing, branding, and website development, with a strong focus on helping clients attract more guests and increase direct bookings.
During my time with BuildUp Bookings, I worked on several branding, graphic design, and website development projects. The work I was most excited about, however, was when I was given the opportunity to help refresh the company’s brand and contribute to the development of its website.
These projects gave me the opportunity to contribute to how the company presented itself, from its visual identity to its digital presence.
The BuildUp Bookings Brand
One of the projects I was most excited to work on was the BuildUp Bookings brand refresh.
Conrad, the owner, was very kind in trusting me with the creative direction. Because he frequently traveled to attend talks and promote digital marketing in his area, I was given the freedom to explore new ideas using the existing brand materials as my main reference.
Brand Refresh
The goal was to create a more modern and flexible brand that could work across different digital platforms. It was also important that the identity would look good in podcast platforms and other promotional materials.
I reviewed the existing brand materials and used them as a starting point for the new direction. The goal was to create a cleaner and more modern visual identity while keeping a connection to the original brand.
I worked on developing a refreshed visual direction that gave the brand a cleaner and more current look while remaining connected to the company’s existing identity.
Website Development
The website project followed the same direction of bringing more creativity into the company’s digital presence.
BRINGING THE BRAND TO THE WEBSITE
Conrad wanted the website to reflect the creative side of BuildUp Bookings while still clearly communicating the services they offer. The website also needed to showcase their clients and highlight some of the company’s achievements.
My involvement included helping translate the visual direction into the website experience. The goal was to create a website that felt creative and engaging while remaining clear and relevant to the business.
The project brought together my experience in visual design, UX/UI, and website development.
A sad goodbye
Sadly, nearing the end of 2022, design projects became less frequent as the company’s business interests focused more on marketing.
Still, I was thankful for the time I spent with the team and for Conrad’s trust in allowing me to contribute to the brand and its digital projects. It was an experience that gave me the opportunity to work across branding, visual design, UX/UI, and website development.
My role
I worked across different design and digital projects during my time with BuildUp Bookings. My responsibilities included:
- Leading and supporting branding and visual design projects
- Creating brand assets and marketing materials
- Refreshing and modernizing the BuildUp Bookings brand
- Developing visual directions based on existing brand materials
- Designing graphics for digital marketing and promotional use
- Designing website pages and digital experiences
- Supporting the redesign and development of the company website
- Creating responsive layouts for different screen sizes
- Working directly with the owner and team to understand project requirements
- Translating ideas and business needs into practical design solutions
My role allowed me to work across both creative design and website implementation, which became an important part of my experience as a designer.
